INDUSTRIAL ENGINES from IVECO MOTORS
As the above photo illustrates, IVECO MOTORS offers industrial diesel engines in four new families: the 2.3 and 3.0 liter SOFIM HPI engines, the NEF engines in I-3, I-4 & I-6 cylinder configurations with gross continuous industrial power ratings from 80 to 227 HP, the CURSOR I-6 engine family with displacements of 7.8, 10.3, & 12.9 liters and industrial power ratings from 236 to over 530 HP, and the large VECTOR V-type six, eight, twelve, and sixteen cylinder engines, with displacements of 15, 20, 30, and 40 liters, and industrial power ratings from about 700 to over 2000 HP. In addition, many models of the older 8000 series Fiat Iveco aifo diesel engines remain available for stationary and export applications where current emission certifications are not required.A full color brochure that features all Iveco's new industrial engine offerings can be downloaded from this IVECO Product Range link . [Warning: This brochure is a large pdf file - about 4 MB].
With one exception (see note 1), the four and six cylinder NEF engines noted in the table below are EPA Tier II/Euro 3/CE97/68 Phase 2 certified (and EPA Tier III compliant), and are generally stocked and available in North America. An EPA Tier II three cylinder 3.36 liter NEF engine not shown here will be available in 2005. The robust NEF engine family features stabilized cast iron blocks and monolithic cast iron cylinder heads; structural blocks are optionally available. Many PTO, fan, and electrical options are available for special applications. The engine gear train is at the rear of the block. This minimizes noise and vibration; NEF engines are among the quietest in their class. Both mechanically governed and common rail fuel injected NEF engines with total electronic control are available.

Added data links: Thelink in the Model Number column will access an individual engine data sheet for that particular model; the link in the Cylinders, Injection System, & Aspiration column can be used to access an individual engine drawing, and the link in the Displacement column can be used to to access an engine photo. You will need ADOBE Acrobat to read the PDF data sheets and PDF engine drawings. A full color PDF brochure with all of the NEF engines can be downloaded from NEF Engine Family brochure . [Warning: This brochure is a large pdf file - about 4 MB].
Abbreviations: D.I. = Direct injection, with mechanical governor; C.R. = Common rail injection, with total electronic control via Iveco's CAN Bus interface; NA = Naturally aspirated, TC = Turbocharged, TAA = Turbocharged & aftercooled. Turbos are wastegate controlled.
Memo: The table above details gross continuous and net continuous engine horsepower at various rpms. To calculate kW, multiply the horsepower value by 0.746. [engine ratings in kW are common outside the US]. All 4.5 liter engines can be ordered with or without an internal balancer. The small photo to the right shows a six cylinder NEF N60 ENT engine with a fully electronic common rail diesel injection system.
Notes: (1) The N67 NMA engine is not stocked in the US, but is available for other markets; it has maximum ratings of 109 gross hp and 101 continuous hp at 2500 rpm. (2) High output gen drive model available for speeds of 1500 and 1800 rpm only.
(b) CURSOR ENGINES - Gross & Net continuous horsepower versus rpm
CURSOR six cylinder diesel engines are offered in three sizes, and each industrial model is available in three different power ratings. EPA Tier II certified versions of the 7.8 liter CURSOR 8 are available now. EPA certified versions of the 10.3 liter CURSOR 10 and 12.9 liter CURSOR 13 are scheduled to be available in December 2004. CURSOR engines use stabilized monolithic cast iron block and sub-block assemblies with wet cylinder liners, cast iron cylinder heads, roller rocker arms, a single overhead camshaft with seven supports, and feature four valves per cylinder, variable geometry turbochargers, and EUI pumping injectors with total electronic control. This gradual, progressive "electronic unit injection" control system -- which features Iveco's CAN Bus interface -- avoids typical "diesel knock" and reduces engine wear and noise.

(c) SOFIM HPI ENGINES - Available soon !![]()
The 2.3 and 3.0 liter SOFIM HPI engines will be available in North America in 2005. A EURO 3/CE 97/68 Phase 2 and EPA Tier 2 emission certified version of the 2.3 liter SOFIM HPI engine is scheduled for late first quarter introduction. An emission compliant 3.0 liter engine will follow at a later time. These engines feature cast iron blocks, aluminum cylinder heads, four valve per cylinder timing systems, and common rail fuel injection with total electronic control. An industrial data sheet for the SOFIM HPI 2.3 liter engine is not yet available, but a data sheet for the SOFIM HPI 23 automotive engine is available.
The photo of the 2.3 liter SOFIM HPI engine with SAE housing shown here to the left is linked to a larger image.
(d) VECTOR ENGINES - Coming to North America in 2005The very large VECTOR V-type six, eight, twelve, and sixteen cylinder engines, with displacements of 15, 20, 30, and 40 liters, and industrial power ratings from about 700 to over 2000 HP will be available in North America in early 2005. The V12 will be first, followed closely by the V8, then the V16, and finally, the V6. The VECTOR engine family is very robust, and is designed for a working life in excess of 25,000 hours. The VECTOR engines feature stabilized cast iron monolithic blocks, wet cylinder liners, roller tappets and rocker arms, and singular cast iron cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder. All models use common rail fuel injection with total electronic control via Iveco's CAN Bus interface. English data sheets for the industrial VECTOR engines are not yet available, but a brief technical summary of essential VECTOR engine family characteristics can be downloaded here. The small photo of the VECTOR V-12 engine shown here to the left is linked to a larger image.
(e) 8000 series IVECO aifo ENGINES - Still available![]()
For almost thirty years, Iveco industrial and marine engine and power generation products have been custom fit and manufactured by a separate entity known as Iveco aifo. Today, these activities are co-ordinated within the PowerTrain Division of Iveco SpA using the "umbrella" of the new Iveco Motors "brand." Although it is certain that the new engine families described above represent the future, to insure ongoing product support and continuity, many of the 8000 series engine models developed and refined over three decades by Fiat Iveco aifo remain available from Iveco Motors. The 8000 series range of engine models is extensive, and includes engines from the smallest 2.9 liter 8031 three cylinder family to the much larger 25.8 liter V12 enginesin the 8291 family.
Continuing applications for the 8000 series include new stationary and export installations where where current emission certifications are not required, large kW gaseous generator set applications, and as service replacements for the tens of thousands of existing Iveco aifo engines that remain in service worldwide.
The small photo at left shows a three cylinder, 2.9 liter 8031 industrial engine (this photo is linked to a larger image).
It may be a while before we have all of the 8000 series engine data summarized here on our web site. In the meantime, information on most of these engines is available on the IVECO MOTORS website.
This includes the 8031, 8035, 8040, 8041, 8045, 8065, 8060, 8061, 8210, 8281, 8291, and 8460 engine families and their many variations.
